Introducing the EMEA Champions Queue!

A competitive matchmaking experience is being introduced to our new EMEA esports ecosystem

With our new EMEA ecosystem being rolled out for this year of competitive play, we’re pleased to announce the addition of an EMEA LoL Champions Queue (CQ) launching on **January 24**. EMEA CQ will kick off alongside the LEC 2023 Winter Split, allowing current LEC players and developmental players from some of our ERLs to practice in an enhanced and competitive environment. EMEA CQ will let these players practice in a high-quality, solo queue-like environment where they can all focus on leveling-up their skills. We’re excited to bring this to our new and improved LoL Esports EMEA ecosystem. We’ve been working closely with our colleagues who worked on the NA Champions Queue, and aim to deliver an experience as good as the original. We’re sure players across the entire EMEA region will have questions on how this will all work, so we’ve included all the details below! **What is Champions Queue?** Champions Queue is an invite-only, adaptive League of Legends system that allows professional and developmental players to practice in an organized environment. It provides automatic lobby creation as well as voice communication channels and match reporting. All eligible players will be invited to a private Discord server that will schedule, track and organize games between players. There will also be a leaderboard system that can be viewed by fans coming soon. **When will it be active?** We’ll be running the first EMEA LoL Champions Queue Split from **January 24** to **February 23**. It will be active on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in a single four hour block per day, at 22:00-02:00 CET. The last hour of the queue will allow for off-role picks as we anticipate less available players during this time. Our full schedule for 2023 is below: Split 1 - **January 24** - **February 23** Split 2 - **February 28** - **March 31** MSI Split - **TBD** Split 3 - **May 30** - **June 30** Split 4 - **July 4** - **August 11** **Who can play?** The initial player population of EMEA CQ will be the starting lineups of our LEC and Accredited ERL teams, as well as a few select professionals who might not be currently on a starting line-up and former professional players who still play at a high-competitive level. For a detailed breakdown of who will have access to EMEA Champions Queue: - LEC starting lineup players - LEC registered substitutes (must be Grandmaster or higher in Solo Queue in the previous or current season) - Accredited ERL starting lineup players LFL - France Prime League - DACH Superliga - Spain TCL - Turkey Ultraliga - Eastern Europe - Players who have previously competed professionally in the LEC for at least one Season (must be Grandmaster or higher in Solo Queue in the previous or current season) **How is it decided who gets access?** An EMEA CQ Player Council will be established a few weeks after launch. The goal of the council will be to vote on who has access to EMEA CQ; whether that would be revoking access due to disciplinary reasons or approving potential new players and defining future criteria. We’ll work closely with our LEC and ERL players to determine who’ll be on the council to ensure a wide representation of players with a common interest of keeping EMEA CQ both high-skilled and a healthy place to practice. As always, we’ll be closely monitoring the success of the program to see how we can improve and potentially expand the service in the future. **How will it work?** The EMEA CQ will be organized through a Riot-owned Discord server. Admins will be on-hand and act as the main point of contact for players if they encounter any issues and make sure their experience is seamless. The service will also follow the same patch cycle as the LEC, so if a champion has been disabled from competitive play, it will also be disabled in CQ. Player support will be in English.
