About the United Center & the LCS Championship, Delivered by Grubhub
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The United Center, longtime home to the champion teams Chicago Bulls (NBA) and Chicago Blackhawks (NHL), will host the LCS Championship. The iconic arena, situated on Chicago’s Near West Side, hosts more than 200 major events each year including sporting events, musical performers, family shows and more and has welcomed more than 65 million fans since its opening. In that time, United Center and its teams have furthered Chicago’s rich history of sports excellence by celebrating six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and six NHL championships with the Chicago Blackhawks.
The United Center is no stranger to elite competitions, making it a perfect location to crown an LCS Champion. Finals Weekend in Chicago is the culmination of a four-week, eight-team LCS Summer postseason, with the concluding best-of-five matches played at the United Center — the Lower Bracket Final on Saturday, September 10, and the Grand Finals on Sunday, September 11. All three participating teams will have already qualified for the 2022 World Championship in North America.
Youth Outreach Partners
-----------------------
The LCS will work with three Chicago-based Youth Outreach Partners for the 2022 LCS Championship: **Youth Guidance,** the **Chicago Park District** and **I Play Games!**. We’re excited to engage and promote the expansion of esports in Chicago by sharing resources and expertise with these local community organizations. We will provide a unique, behind-the-scenes experience at the United Center for local students, parents and educators. These curated experiences include activations at Fan Fest, backstage VIP tours, and access to a dedicated panel where the guests can hear firsthand from Riot employees about careers and educational pathways into esports.
[Youth Guidance][8] is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that creates and implements school-based programs that enable children to overcome obstacles, focus on their education and, ultimately, to succeed in school and in life. Founded in 1924, Youth Guidance is a leading provider of outcomes-driven programs and capacity-building initiatives, directly serving about 14,000 youth while touching the lives of hundreds more parents, schools and local communities.
Since its formation more than seventy years ago, the [Chicago Park District][9] prioritizes the needs of children and families by creating a responsive park system that provides great reasons to stay and play for a lifetime. Now the steward of 8,000+ acres of open space, totaling more than 570 parks, 31 beaches, 50 nature areas and 2 world-class conservatories — which altogether hosts thousands of special events, cultural, nature, sports and recreational programs — the Chicago Park District remains a leading provider of green space and recreation in the United States.
In 2009, Tournament Organizer and Esports Expert Kevin Fair created [I Play Games!][10] (IPG) as a way to bring his favorite hobby to the wider Chicago community. In the years since, IPG has grown into a nationwide leader in providing Esports & Video Gaming-related entertainment with services such as equipment rentals, tournament operation, and event staffing. Gaming is a lifetime passion for IPG CEO & Founder [Kevin Fair][11] who has translated that passion into Youth Workshops and After School Programs for over a dozen Chicago area schools and groups like The Chicago Park District and The Chicago Urban League.
