This Spring we moved our LCS broadcast from the LCS Studios into your homes, so we could stay apart together under COVID-19. Now, with the debut of Summer Split, we’re proud to bring our fans back into the LCS Studios (virtually). Welcome to the LCS DOME (the “League Control System’s Dynamically Operated Media Environment”) powered by Alienware!
LCS broadcast team and engineers led by Dave/**RumbleStew**, Executive Producer of the LCS, and Justin/**Riot Oniatserj**, Creative Technology Producer, partnered with Immersive Design Studios to bring viewers into a beautiful 3D world, using the Canvas Platform and Unreal Engine. Ultimately, we took elements of the same team and tools that brought you memorable Worlds moments - the 2018 K/DA performance and the 2017 virtual dragon - to make the LCS an equally unforgettable experience this summer.
The LCS DOME uses 75 virtual cameras (versus 22 actual cameras in our physical studios and 54 at last year’s Worlds) and pre-animated camera moves to transport viewers across different 3D environments and sets, and integrate our broadcast talent, segments and sponsors in more dynamic ways. The DOME also gives viewers a window into a digital world - mountains, forest, and a seascape - to echo the feeling of catching a breeze and creating a change of scenery, even from inside your home.
The LCS DOME is a true technological feat, packing several months of design and technical work into just five weeks. We can’t wait to unveil this new world of LCS and explore it with you this Summer Split!
