We’re edging ever-closer to the start of 2023 EMEA Masters (EM) Summer - and for the first time ever, we’re inviting you to join us live for our 2023 EM Summer Final in Montpellier, in the Occitanie region as part of the 2023 League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) Season Finals roadshow.
28 teams from across the ERL ecosystem will battle it out for team dominance, regional pride, and the chance to be crowned 2023 EM Summer Champions. Among those teams will be reigning Spring Champions, TCL titans the Istanbul Wildcats – who secured a commanding victory versus Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition in a nail-biting five-game Spring Final.
But victory is never guaranteed, and the competition is fiercer than ever for 2023 EM Summer, with every team willing to do whatever it takes to add their name to the prestigious list of EM Champions.
The tournament will kick off with the Play-In stage on August 14, where teams will compete in a four-group, best-of-one double round robin. The top two teams from each group will qualify to the Play-In Knockouts, where they’ll have to fight for one of four spots in the Group Stage. These matches will be allocated by a draw, where a team’s opponent can be anyone except their Play-In groupmate.
They’ll join our twelve automatically qualified Group Stage teams on August 21, to compete in a four-group best-of-one double round robin. From thereon out, there are no second chances – it’ll be best-of-five single elimination for Quarter and Semi Finals, before our Grand Final live on stage at the [Sud de France Arena][1] in Montpellier, in the Occitanie region.
We wanted to kick things up a notch for our first-ever live and in-person Grand Final – and so we’re proud to announce that we’ll be debuting our first-ever EM Finals MVP trophy, which will be awarded to the standout performer of our LAN Finals in Montpellier. Voting for Finals MVP is made up of a team of fans, journalists, our EM-qualified teams and the EM analysts.
