The audio benefits won’t just be limited to players in Shanghai. While [Bose][1] will provide all competition headsets--which have been engineered to deliver the best combination of noise cancellation performance, clear communication, comfort, and durability--to pro players, the Bose headsets will also be used by on-camera talent, referees, and the production crew at Worlds.
The news comes as Bose unveiled its first-ever headset designed for gaming, the [QuietComfort 35® II Gaming Headset][2]. It will feature Acoustic Noise Canceling™ technology for better active and passive noise control and a detachable gaming module to be the first 2-in-1 gaming and lifestyle headset from Bose.
While the Bose SoundComm professional headsets at Worlds have been modified to meet the specific needs of professional gamers, the QC35 II shares the same technological advancements and innovations that the pros will be using in Shanghai and at future LoL Esports Global Events.
“Bose has been an industry leader in audio technology and innovation for decades, and we’re thrilled to partner with them to both level up the pro player experience across LoL Esports and our global events while also providing an even richer audio connection to our fans,” said Naz Aletaha, Head of Global Esports Partnerships & Business Development, Riot Games.
“Communication is one of the keys to success in League of Legends. Not only do pro players have to be able to clearly hear in-game sounds, they must be in constant communication with their teammates to coordinate plays. Bose’s expert sound engineering wholly tackles the demanding audio requirements of LoL Esports.”
As the Official Gaming Headset of LoL Esports Global Events, the QC 35 II is fully compatible with all major gaming platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile devices. It comes equipped with a Discord and TeamSpeak-certified boom mic designed for precise communications with minimal background noise.
“Bose is excited to enter the Esports space by supporting LoL Global Events and its pro players, while also introducing our first-ever gaming headset to the market” said Pat LaCroix, Head of Global Brand & Marketing Activation. “The relationship between Bose and Riot is a natural fit – both companies take pride in leading with technology and innovation, and putting the customer first.”
Bose will also develop a content series that takes players beyond the headset to showcase why sound is integral to competitive League of Legends, and provide fans with inside looks into LoL Esports pros during matches by highlighting team dynamics among team members through their “Sounds of the Game” content.
