Welcome to Tempe — home of Arizona State University and one of the most dynamic innovation and gaming communities in the country. Whether you’re exploring the energy of Mill Avenue, relaxing by Tempe Town Lake, or taking in the excitement around ASU’s Tempe campus, there’s always something happening in the heart of the Valley.
Gaming, esports, and interactive media can be found here at ASU through The GAME School — games, arts, media, and engineering — where students collaborate across technology, design, storytelling, engineering, and the arts to shape the future of entertainment and digital experiences. Originally launched as Arts, Media and Engineering in 2004, the program has grown into a nationally recognized interdisciplinary hub focused on creativity, innovation, and emerging technologies.
Home to ASU’s First Esports Lounge, students connect, compete, and play on over 55 PCs, 2 PlayStation 5s, and a Nintendo Switch on the Tempe Campus. The GAME School continues to expand its impact in the gaming and entertainment industry with new programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Game Design, the Bachelor of Science in Game Studio Production LA, and the new Master of Science in Entertainment Engineering. These programs are designed to prepare students for careers spanning game development, immersive storytelling, AI, esports, interactive media, and emerging entertainment technologies.
The GAME School is also expanding into Los Angeles through ASU California Center initiatives, creating new opportunities for students to connect directly with the entertainment, gaming, and creative technology industries at the center of one of the world’s largest media markets.
Beyond Tempe, ASU’s Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center in nearby downtown Mesa serves as a cutting-edge hub for film, gaming, XR, and immersive media production. The state-of-the-art facility brings together students, creators, developers, and researchers working across virtual worlds, interactive storytelling, and next-generation entertainment technologies, further strengthening Arizona’s growing creative technology ecosystem. Worth a visit while in town for the LCS Event!
“From Sun Devil spirit to the growing esports and gaming ecosystem across Arizona and California, we’re excited to welcome the LCS community to Tempe and hope you enjoy your time here in Arizona,” said Pavan Turaga, Founding Director of The GAME School at Arizona State University.
