Worlds 2025 in China will mark the 15-year anniversary of LoL Esports! From its early days in small studios with home-brewed broadcasts to sold-out arenas and millions of fans watching worldwide, League of Legends has grown into one of the most celebrated esports in history.
To honor this milestone, we're celebrating with a series of special moments, starting with the return of the classic Summoner’s Cup design, a Worlds Music Video that celebrates the sport’s legacy, and more.
The Summoner’s Cup has always been more than a trophy: it is the pinnacle of competitive League of Legends and a symbol of the champions, moments, and rivalries that have defined the sport. For the 15-year anniversary, we are reintroducing the Cup’s original, iconic silhouette with a refreshed design that bridges past and future.
The third edition of the trophy incorporates modern details that reflect the evolution of LoL Esports. Notably, its weight has been reduced by nearly half, making it safer and easier for champions to lift on the biggest stage. The base, standing seven inches tall and engraved with the names of all 14 past Worlds-winning teams, will continue the tradition established by the Tiffany & Co. edition. The trophy will be delivered to the Dong'an Lake Sports Park Multifunctional Gymnasium in Chengdu by Mercedes-Benz, LoL Esports’ official automotive partner.
While the second edition, co-created with Tiffany & Co., is now retired from competition, it will remain a preserved part of LoL Esports history, much like the original 70-pound version on display at Riot Games’ Los Angeles campus. With each edition representing a unique chapter in the sport’s journey, we look forward to establishing the newest iteration as the trophy of record for LoL Esports into the future.
The anniversary celebration also extends to one of the most anticipated traditions of the year: the Worlds Music Video. This year’s anthem will be performed by G.E.M., one of China’s most prominent artists, whose powerful voice and dynamic stage presence will capture the passion and profound energy of our 15 years of legacy.
The 2025 Worlds Music Video will celebrate 15 years of LoL Esports by showcasing legendary players, unforgettable plays, and iconic teams, weaving them into a tribute to the moments that shaped the game. Centered on the anniversary theme, it will honor the sport’s evolution and milestones since the first Worlds in 2011. Fans can expect to hear the anthem and watch the full Worlds music video in October on the League of Legends YouTube channel or grab the track anywhere you can listen to music.

The celebrations will culminate on the day of the Worlds Final with an Opening Ceremony featuring G.E.M., DJ, producer, and and multidisciplinary artist Anyma, singer-songwriter TEYA, and long-time League fan and collaborator Chrissy Costanza at the Dong’an Lake Sports Park Indoor Gymnasium in Chengdu. This venue was specifically chosen with our Opening Ceremony performance in mind—its scale and technical capabilities allow us to bring the creative vision to life at a level worthy of the Worlds stage. This performance will blend music, storytelling, and stunning visual effects, delivering a show worthy of LoL Esports’ most important milestone yet. We’ll have more to share soon about the details of the Opening Ceremony, performances, and music, so stay tuned.
To cap off the anniversary announcements, Riot Games is introducing Elite chromas for two of the sport’s most iconic championship teams and their Worlds Winner skins, 2018's Invictus Gaming and 2017's Samsung Galaxy, in Patch 25.20.
While Worlds Winner skins released since 2019 have included Elite chromas, we’re extending this tradition to earlier lines, with more to come in future Worlds patches. This year’s releases pay tribute to two historic milestones: Invictus Gaming’s breakthrough as the first LPL team to claim the Summoner’s Cup, and Samsung Galaxy’s unforgettable victory in the Bird’s Nest in Beijing.
The timing is fitting: Invictus Gaming has recently rebuilt the team with members of its championship roster, while Gen.G, Samsung Galaxy’s successor, enters Worlds 2025 after back-to-back MSI titles and as one of the tournament favorites. Fans can expect the new chromas to hit PBE in the coming days.
As LoL Esports marks 15 years with the return of its most iconic trophy, a special Worlds anthem, and a music video celebrating its history, the anniversary also sets the stage for the next era, continuing to grow the sport, inspire new generations of fans, and deliver unforgettable moments for years to come.
