Introducing the LTA Leadership Team
Kicking off the inaugural season of the LTA, we're excited to introduce the team shaping its future! Leading the charge is Commissioner Mark Zimmerman, whose passion for esports and love for bold plays sets the tone for the league. Joining him is Carlos Antunes, Head of League of Legends Americas, bringing his experience across the Americas to the table. Igor Corrêa serves as a product lead who will help oversee LTA South, bringing his expertise to ensure the league thrives across both conferences, fostering fierce competition and collaboration within the region. Meanwhile, Zack Elliot, Product Lead for Americas Tier 2, takes the reins of Tier 2 play across the Americas, paving the way for up-and-coming talent. Together, this team is poised to create an unforgettable season for fans and players alike.
Season Kickoff and Split 1 Details
The 2025 LTA season unofficially begins on January 18 with the LTA North and South Draw Shows. These events will determine the first-round matchups and include an exciting “Welcome to Noxus” Showmatch featuring professional players, as well as additional hype content you won’t want to miss. The official competition kicks off on January 25 and runs until February 23, marking the introduction of a three-split format for the year.
Split 1’s goals include:
High-Stakes Play: The split features double-elimination conference play with a "full fearless" format—any champion played by either team is banned in subsequent games.
Tournament Format: Teams must win two best-of-three (Bo3) series to advance to the playoffs or risk elimination after two losses.
Cross-Conference Play: LTA South will host the first-ever cross-conference competition at the revamped RGA São Paulo, culminating in a best-of-five (Bo5) single-elimination bracket to crown the Split 1 champion and name the Americas representative for the First Stand Tournament in March.
Split 1 seeks to ignite excitement early in the season by showcasing the Fearless format and the intense rivalry between North and South. The results will also help gauge fan reception and competitiveness across the conferences, setting the stage for the rest of the season.
Split 2: Setting the Stage
Split 2 is double round-robin best-of-one (Bo1) games within North and South conferences, followed by a top six playoff bracket. This structure helps bring together new and old audiences, players, and organizations to each conference. The winner of each conference will be crowned Conference Champions and earn a spot at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). With every match, fans can discover new talent, celebrate familiar faces, and deepen their connection to the stories and personalities that shape the LTA. Split 2 will begin April 5!
Split 3 and Year-End Goals
Each split's format is designed to achieve distinct objectives while ensuring the season remains engaging for fans. Split 3 promises to be a major highlight of the 2025 LTA season, with teams picking opponents every week in a fight to survive. We’ll cover its specific goals following Split 2 along with a retrospective analysis of the first two splits. The LTA team will track community feedback and satisfaction throughout the year, making adjustments as needed to deliver an incredible experience.
