100 Thieves & the LTA

A Provisional Guest Team for 2025

In late 2024, 100 Thieves made the business decision to sell its franchise slot back to Riot Games. Recognizing the legacy and value 100 Thieves brings to the North American League of Legends ecosystem, Riot extended an offer for the organization to remain involved in the newly launched LTA as a Provisional Guest Team for the 2025 season.

This one-year agreement allowed 100 Thieves full access to compete in all LTA activities and international events, while ensuring the league maintained competitive strength and continuity during its foundational year. As part of the agreement, it was understood that 100 Thieves would not be eligible to participate in the Promotion Tournament at the end of the season and that no long-term guarantees were attached to the guest team status.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Throughout 2025, Riot and the LTA evaluated the Provisional Guest Team slot with the goal of determining the best structure for the league. As a result of this process, the LTA has made the decision to move forward with identifying and onboarding long-term a North American partner to fill the slot beginning in the 2026 season. This marks a deliberate and strategic step toward building a more sustainable and stable future for the league, while ensuring strong regional representation for years to come. We look forward to announcing this new partner in the coming months.

A Legacy of Impact

100 Thieves will continue to compete through the third and final split of the 2025 season before concluding their time in the LTA. Their contributions to LoL Esports span nearly a decade—from their debut appearance in the 2018 LCS Finals to capturing their first LCS championship in 2021. In 2025, they stepped up once again, helping to support the successful transition from the LCS to the LTA during a pivotal moment in the evolution of North American League of Legends.
