Fearless Draft will make its LEC debut during the Winter Split Playoffs
The Winter Split Champions will qualify for our new international event: First Stand
Brace yourself– Winter is coming.
And with it comes six weeks of explosive action as EMEA’s 10 LEC teams return to the Rift to fight for LEC glory. In case you’ve missed it, next year’s esports calendar will match League of Legends' three 2025 ranked seasons, so you can be sure that the Season 1 Noxus invasion will spread to the LEC broadcast too…
With just over a month until we get underway, here is everything you need to know about the LEC Winter Split, including all the key dates and how you can secure tickets!
LEC Winter Format Reminder
All three LEC splits in 2025 will have unique formats and for Winter, that means the introduction of Fearless Draft during the Playoffs in preparation for the new international tournament: First Stand.
But what exactly is Fearless Draft? It’s an exciting new format which forces teams to become more creative as no champion can be played twice in a series. After picks and bans in a fifth and final game, there would be 50 champions banned in total!
All 10 LEC teams will compete over three weeks in best-of-ones to decide Playoff seeding, while the bottom two are eliminated. Then the remaining eight teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket with best-of-threes and best-of-fives to decide the LEC Winter Split Champions and the EMEA representative at First Stand.
It’s also important to note that while Playoffs will remain on one single patch to uphold competitive integrity, the LEC Winter Group games will always be played on the live patch. So when a pro pulls out a wild pick in preparation for Fearless Draft, you can take that same pick straight into your own solo queue games knowing it's the same patch (results may vary).
