With the excitement of Lock In behind us, it’s time to kick off the 2022 LCS Spring Split! Ten teams enter regular season play, six advance to playoffs, and three will fly to Houston for Championship Weekend — but only one will lift the LCS Trophy and book a trip to the Mid-Season Invitational.
Each team enters the 10th year of LCS with high aspirations and questions to answer, including:
- Can [100 Thieves][1] rebound from an early Lock In exit to defend its LCS Championship?
- Summit, Berserker, Winsome, LS, mid-lane Fudge — these days, [Cloud9][2] is preaching a new dogma. Does it portend success?
- In Year 10 of a league it helped found, will [CLG][3] recapture old highs with a fully retooled roster?
- Can [Dignitas QNTMPAY][4], after exceeding expectations at Lock In, keep the momentum going?
- Will a ferocious combination of proven veterans and exciting youngsters be enough for [Evil Geniuses][5] to lift its first LCS trophy?
- [FlyQuest][6] looks pretty and potent in pink — can its new recruits regrow the excellence that led to a spot at Worlds 2020?
- [Golden Guardians][7] couldn’t field its intriguing new roster during Lock In. Will the arrival of Licorice, Pridestalker, Ablazeolive, Lost and Olleh turn this perennial underdog into a playoff threat?
- PowerOfEvil and the rest of [Immortals Progressive][8] left Lock In without a win. Can this veteran-laden roster start Spring on the right foot?
- Bjergsen’s back on the Rift, but with an ever-shifting LCS lineup, when will back-to-back Lock In champion [Team Liquid][9] reveal its final form?
- Since 2013, [TSM][10] has appeared in 13 of the 18 LCS Finals, winning seven (both LCS highs). Will new additions Shenyi, Keaidou and head coach Chawy help continue a legacy of domestic dominance?
With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 LCS Spring Split.
SCHEDULE AND FORMAT
-------------------
The LCS Spring Split consists of an eight-week double round robin, with five games played on Saturday and Sunday. Weeks 4 and 8 have been designated as Super Weeks, with five additional games played on Friday. Broadcast days will start at 12pm Sunday, 1pm on Saturday, and, during Super Weeks, 2pm on Friday, with games starting on the half hour (all times PT).
At the end of Week 8, the top six teams will advance to the LCS Spring Playoffs, with the winner being crowned LCS Champion and the league’s Mid-Season Invitational representative. The playoff format will stay the same — double elimination for the top four seeds, single elimination for seeds five and six — but the first seed will be able to choose either the third or fourth seed as their Round 1 opponent.
NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas will host the LCS Spring Playoffs lower bracket final and grand final — with fans in attendance — on April 23-24.

This split we wanted to come up with a more consistent basis on which to award drops in the broadcast while also turning the drops into something exciting to collect beyond just receiving in-game content.
