As the Playoff stage approaches for the VCS, PCS, LJL, and LCO, excitement and intensity are reaching new heights. Traditionally, teams have battled fiercely for a coveted spot at Worlds. However, the stakes are even higher this year, as they are now also competing for a spot in the new APAC league launching in 2025!
Fans will be treated to more intense matches as higher stakes are introduced to elevate the competition and stay true to our commitment to rewarding competitive merit. This will act as our foundation for more dynamic and diverse competition, as we explore opportunities to provide wider access to the new League across our APAC ecosystem.
Partner and Guest Slots Breakdown
We announced last month that the new league will adopt a hybrid partnership plus promotion/relegation model, this is the breakdown of the 8 slots between both partner and guest teams.
4 Partner Slots
We have kicked off the selection of Partner teams. This will follow a stringent process in selecting teams that will become a mainstay of the new APAC league. These partnerships will set the standard for competitive strength and sustainability, while their commitment and alignment with our goals will also be invaluable to our efforts in growing LoL Esports in our region.
4 Guest Slots
2 Competitive Merit Guest Slots - The highest placed team in the 2024 PCS and VCS Playoffs outside of Partner teams will secure their spot in the new league next year. This underscores the importance of the 2024 Summer Playoffs, making every match crucial and heightening the competitive spirit.
2 Invited Guest Slots - We are inviting two additional Guest teams to complete the league, ensuring diverse representation and fostering a more inclusive and competitive environment. We aim to showcase as many talents from different regions, contributing to the overall growth and excitement of the league.
Guest Slots will be up for contest through the promotion/relegation tournament at the end of the 2025 season, stay tuned for more details on the tournament.
