Last weekend, we saw G2 Esports conquer Fnatic in the 2020 Spring Finals to claim their seventh European Championship title. It was the culmination of a unique season, to say the least. We not only brought our competition to a remote, fully-online production to adapt to the uncertain times, but we also debuted our new Playoffs format, both of which proved to be a success.
The result of the massive effort behind all of this is that the 2020 Spring Playoffs, including the Finals, smashed all of our previous viewership records in every metric.
Our Average Minute Audience (AMA), which is fans watching at the same time in any given minute, for Playoffs as a whole was 279,361, an increase of 13.74% compared to the 2019 Spring Playoffs. Throughout the course of Playoffs overall, fans watched a total of 10,662,283 hours of the LEC, which is an increase of 71.35% compared to the 2019 Spring Playoffs.
During the Finals, we also saw Peak Viewership reach a whopping 807,033. That’s 76.18% higher than the previous 2020 record!. We’re also incredibly proud to share that the AMA of the Finals was 694,266, which is also a new record for 2020.
From all of us here at the LEC: Thank You. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the continuing support of all of our fans, players, partners, and media, and we look forward to seeing you back for Summer!
