TL;DR:
Movember has become an Official Mental Health Partner for the 2026 and 2027 Seasons
We will work collaboratively to support the mental health of players, staff, and the wider esports community.
Planned initiatives for the upcoming year include mental health awareness and response training for staff, and player-only roundtables that support players navigating stress and reducing the likelihood of unhealthy coping mechanisms.
We’re delighted to announce that Movember has become the Official Mental Health Partner for the LEC for the next two years!
Movember is a global charity raising awareness and funding mental health projects since 2003.
The collaboration with Movember will allow us to build upon the support systems we have in place and create a healthier competitive environment for the EMEA players, teams, fans, and the broader esports community.
Together with Movember, we are working closely with the LEC players and team staff to understand the challenges that come with competing and provide tools to better support them, from managing pressure or building healthier habits to not burn out. We are also integrating frameworks and interventions into the competitive structure to strengthen our support across the league. We’re looking forward to launching a number of initiatives already planned for the upcoming season, which started with introducing Movember at our recent Player Summit.
Whether it's on our broadcasts for folks at home or featured at live events, Movember and the LEC want to bring open conversations around mental health to light to normalize them and reduce stigma. This will support our mission aiming at ensuring our community knows help is available when needed and where they can access support, tools and resources.
LEC teams will receive mental health awareness and response training so that staff can recognize and respond to mental health challenges. We are also exploring the potential for workshops and player-only roundtables that will create a space for honest conversations about some of the ongoing challenges players face, whether it’s stress about performance, being away from their home or family, or dealing with online harassment. These initiatives will help build resilience, provide coping mechanisms, and promote healthier habits overall.
"Partnering with Movember allows us to take our commitment to supporting the mental health of our players and teams to the next level,” says Maximilian Peter Schmidt, Director of League of Legends Esports, EMEA. “We want our community to feel empowered to speak openly about the challenges they face and know resources are available if needed. Gaming should be a safe and healthy space for everyone, and this partnership will help us ensure that the environment is maintained and strengthened."
“Movember is committed to bring community first solutions to today’s most urgent mental health challenges. Esports is a focus area for our work in mental health, and by working with Riot Games we aim to have a real impact and drive positive change in esports,” says Dan Cooper, Global Director, Innovations at Movember.
We are proud to partner with an organisation that will help us make gaming a healthier environment for all.
