LEC Summer Primer: Finals in Madrid await!

Dive into the Summer Split: format, NAVI’s debut, and Worlds-deciding finals in Madrid.

TL;DR:

  • The LEC will return with the Summer Split with games resuming at the Riot Games Arena on August 2nd

  • Our Summer Finals will take place across three days of games in sunny Madrid, September 26-28

  • We’ll start with a new Groups phase then get straight into Playoffs (no bo1s)

  • Three spots at Worlds 2025 are on the line!

Somehow, it’s already Summer. The weather is heating up and so are the stakes for EMEA’s League of Legends elite as it’s the final split of the year.

The road to Worlds 2025 is officially underway as we build up to the LEC’s breathtaking 2025 finale in Madrid for one more road show.

Spring showed us just how competitive our league has become, though it’s Movistar KOI and G2 Esports who will represent us at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) this year in Vancouver, Canada - starting on June 27. Not only is it a dress rehearsal for this year’s Worlds, it’s also a chance at a historic trophy.

And once our MSI representatives return from Canada, the land of lumberjacks and moose, they’ll be greeted by another giant in Natus Vincere (NAVI), the newest addition to our league who will compete in the Summer Split alongside our nine other teams.

With nothing but high-pressure, fearless best-of-threes and best-of-fives to look forward to, the upcoming split is going to be an amazing ride.

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming LEC Summer Split 2025.

LEC Summer Split Format

Like in Spring, there will be no best-of-ones this Summer

In fact, this split we’re trying something different by initially separating our 10 teams into two groups.

They will then face each of their four fellow-group members in a single best-of-three to determine the top eight teams who will advance, with the top two of each group automatically qualifying for the Playoffs.

Each third-place team will then face the other group's fourth-place team in a cross-play, best-of-five to determine the remaining two teams who will escape elimination and advance to the Playoffs in the Lower Bracket

The top four will enjoy the luxury of a double-elimination bracket, while a single loss in the Lower Bracket will spell the end to a team’s season.

Our six playoff teams will compete in a gauntlet of best-of-fives to crown EMEA’s final split champions and determine this year’s three LEC representatives at Worlds.

A reminder that there will be no Season Finals this year, everything will be decided in the LEC Summer Split Playoffs.

And that marquee event will take place in the Spanish capital of Madrid. We’re expecting the live finals audience to be so electric that we won’t have to worry about power cuts this time (hopefully).

LEC Summer 2025 Key Dates and Ticket Sales

This year’s Summer Split will get underway on August 2nd with the first phase of our Summer format.

Then, after a well-earned one-week break, our top six teams will get right back into the action and carry their momentum into the Playoffs, which will culminate at our spectacular LEC Summer Finals in Madrid on September 26, 27, and 28, where we will crown our LEC 2025 Summer Champions.

With the level of competition at an all-time high, you are going to want to join us for this upcoming split.

Tickets for the first three weeks of the Summer regular season in Berlin’s Riot Games Arena will go on sale on Tuesday, July 15 at 18:00 CEST and will be available to purchase here.

Then, for the additional weeks, tickets will release each subsequent Tuesday, again at 18:00 CEST, via the same link.

And there are still some tickets available for our shows in Madrid in September, so hurry on over to Ticketmaster and secure your place at the history-making occasion before it’s too late!

The Road to Worlds

As you know by now, the Summer Split is where legends are made.

The highest stakes, the biggest games, and the moments that we all remember…

Ok that’s our narrative quota met, it’s time to get excited!

The road to the LoL World Championships is directly ahead of us as we watch on and wait to see who will represent our region on the biggest stage this year.

With Championship Points gone, the slate has been wiped clean. No previous results matter, only the three strongest performing teams in Summer will qualify for Worlds.

So far this year, a big four has seemingly emerged between G2 Esports, Karmine Corp, Movistar KOI, and Fnatic, but at least one of them will miss out on Worlds.

And it could be even more. With roster changes and a new team in NAVI all incoming to the LEC, anything could happen this Summer. And with three exhilarating game days in Madrid with Worlds qualification and seeding on the line, this Summer is heating up to be something very special.

So make sure you’re tuned in to all things LEC, keep checking lolesports.com and @LEC across social media for all the latest updates.
