On Friday, January 15, the LCS started a new year of competition with a fresh look and our first-ever kick off tournament: LCS Lock In.
The LCS community always brings the energy with the start of a new competitive year. But we never could have expected the welcome you all gave us this year.
Across all three weeks of the tournament, Lock In had an english average minute audience (AMA) of 196,000, and fans watched more than 9.4 million hours -- that’s 43% higher than the first three weeks of Spring 2020.
On Sunday, January 31, the tournament culminated in a long overdue grudge match between Team Liquid and Cloud9. The much-anticipated Finals had an AMA of 246,000 and peaked at 372,000 viewers on English-language broadcasts.
After a tense five-game series, Team Liquid put a stop to the reverse sweep kings and clinched the win, earning the $150,000 grand prize and a donation of $50,000 to their charity of choice, the [Gamers and Online Harassment Hotline][1].
Whether you’re [“just” a woman in Leicester][2], an OG fan, or somewhere in between, thank you for welcoming the LCS into your home. We’ll see you on the Rift!
