The first-ever LEC Winter Split has drawn to a close.
As they took to the stage on Sunday to decide the LEC’s first-ever Winter Split Champion, both MAD Lions and G2 Esports had something to prove. But despite MAD’s best efforts, the Winter Split finals were a quick 3-0 for G2. Not only did G2 become the first-ever LEC team to win ten titles, they became the first team to qualify for the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational.
Before we turn our attention to the Spring Split, it’s time to take one final look back at the Winter Split and see which players finished top of some of the stats leaderboards!
**The silent assassins: highest average kills per game **
It’s no small feat to have two players tied for the **highest average kills per game** in a single split. But it’s an even more impressive feat when both of those players are on the same team.
Although when that team is G2 Esports, LEC Winter Split champions, it’s hardly surprising…
Both AD Carry **Hans Sama** and jungler **Yike** ended the split with the highest average kills per game, sitting at **4.8** across the 21 games they played in total.
However, neither of them quite managed to secure the **highest total kills** in the split. That accolade goes to MAD Lions’ **Nisqy**, with **118**. But with Nisqy playing seven more games across the duration of Winter than his G2 peers, he was actually averaging fewer kills per game despite his higher total kill count. Statistics!
**The lone wolves: most solo kills **
It can be easy to think that every kill is a proof of a player’s individual skill, or their willingness to take risks. But the majority of kills are picked up in teamfights, where it’s a question of a well-timed last hit securing the glory for a player rather than a mechanical outplay.
That’s where **solo kills** come in.
Some of the best players in the world have made fools of themselves chasing solo kills that were always out of reach. But solo kills are also one of the best stats to show just how many risks a player is willing to take and how good they are at making those risks pay off.
And the LEC’s aggression appears to be concentrated in one specific lane, with three of the four players tied for the highest number of solo kills being top laners. SK Gaming’s **Irrelevant**, MAD Lions’ **Chasy**, and G2 Esports’ **Brokenblade** all racked up **10** solo kills over the course of the Winter Split. But we couldn’t let top laners have all the fun – and neither could MAD Lions’ **Nisqy**, who rounded out the four way tie as the only mid laner to achieve **10** solo kills.
And while all these players have shown more than their fair share of aggression, a particular shoutout is owed to Irrelevant and Brokenblade, who achieved the same number of solo kills as MAD’s mid and top laners while playing fewer games over the course of the split.
**The artillery cannon: highest average damage per minute **
Despite playing among the lowest total number of games in the split, EXCEL’s hard carry **Patrik** put forward some incredible **average damage per minute** throughout the course of Winter.
Specifically, he had a **773 damage per minute average** over the course of his nine games played. For context, the next highest damage dealer in Team Vitality’s Perkz did over 100 less damage per minute than Patrik. Despite his early exit from the split, those numbers are nothing to be sniffed at.
**The LEC speedrunners: fastest average game time **
Not only did they win the LEC Winter Split – they did it in record time. **G2 Esports** averaged the **fastest average game time** of any team in the LEC at **29 minutes and 11 seconds**, almost three minutes faster than the league average.
But that’s not the only game-time related victory G2 achieved. The Winter Split winners played both the **longest** and **shortest games** of the split: the former being a **41 minute 29 second** slug fest versus MAD Lions, and the latter being a **18 minute and 40 second** stomp versus Team Heretics. Talk about versatility.
The Winter Split has come to a close – but worry not, because you’ll only have to wait a week for the LEC to return to your screens. The Spring Split will kick off March 11 at 6PM CET, where G2 Esports will look to defend their crown and our other teams will look to lock their spot at MSI 2023.
